There are lots of extras to do than just the main game, bonus levels and also music scrolls are dotted around levels which are not part of the main story but add extra challenges to each level.Īlso when you finish the game you unlock a new game of plaque knight who is one of the characters in the game and he has different moves and the levels have been changed to accomodate this which is a great feature as its like getting shovel knight 2 for free. There are also trophies to win by doing certain things in the game, like using certain weapons to kill so many enemies at once or finishing the game without dying and simpilar ones like buying certain items or finding secret items. I found some of the boss battles to be most challenging. You basically have to kill enemys with your shovel or use other weapons which cost you magic points and reach the end of each level without falling into pits or landing on spikes. The levels are challenging and they look great in 8 bit glory. It took me a little while to get into this game but when i did I was addicted. The fact that your main weapon is a shovel is just great. Its great to see a game come out that takes you back to playing the first few mario games and other platformers.
